The nursing scope of practice is very critical in determining the activities that one should engage in while attending to patients as a nurse practitioner. For instance, the roles that an individual should engage in while attending to patients are identified in the scope of practice. This research explores various benefits derived from expanding the scope of practice. The research undertaken offers insight into how one can obtain reliable research on various nursing papers such as a why do you want to be a nurse essay. Therefore, with the research that has been conducted, nurses can be in a position to undertake research on various nursing papers.

According to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners are required to have a clear understanding on how the state laws and regulations usually influence their practice. The scope of practice usually varies from state to state where it ranges from full practice, to reduced practice, and restricted practice. In the state of Florida, nurses usually operate under restricted practice that usually imply nurses are usually limited from engaging in at least one element of nurse practice. There exist various benefits that can be derived through the expansion of the scope of practice for nurses within the state.

One benefit is expanding the scope of practice will positively impact on the patient’s health. Nurses that have full-practice authority are able provide complete and concise care to their patients. Nurses usually get the capacity to provide high-quality care and even come up with measures that are critical in improving the patient’s health. Another outcome is that the measure taken will be critical in improving the access to care and treatment services in the state. Some demographic and socioeconomic areas usually have a limited access to healthcare services such as rural and underserved areas.

By giving the NPs in these areas the capacity to evaluate, diagnose, and even recommend treatment for patients, it will help increase the access to care and treatment services among these areas. Based on research undertaken by Journal of Nursing Regulation another benefit that will be derived is that it will help increase trust in the nurse practitioners. When NPs are fully entrusted with the health and well-being of patients, it helps increase the trust that patients have with the NPs.

This promotes the ability of the patients to become engaged in their healthcare, adhere to health promotion information provided, and even establishing a trust-based relationships with the NPs. Therefore, considering the benefits that will be derived on the patient and in increasing access to patient care, the scope of practice within the state of Florida should be expanded.
